Remembered as the founder of the Tsugaru fiefdom, Lord Mitsunobu Ohura first settled here. After conquering neighboring areas, he moved his base to Ohura castle (near Hirosaki). Lord Tamenobu (fifth generation descendant of Lord Mitsunobu) would complete the unification of the Tsugaru region. Here, at Tanesato-castle, we find the beginnings of the Tsugaru fiefdom. Lord Mitsunobu Hall, built upon the ruins of Tanesato-castle, is a museum where artifacts and writings pertaining to the early history of the Tsugaru fiefdom and Lord Mitsunobu's accomplishments are on exhibit.
